At the Source is the third Crayven mission in Ground Control.[1]
Background[]
Majors Sarah Parker and Dwight Thomas are tasked with destroying an Order base. Thomas, who controls a force that consists entirely of tanks, expresses concern that the Tier-7 Guana Turrets guarding the Order base would destroy his Wolves with ease. Enrica Hayes assures him that Major Parker will slip into the enemy base before he arrives with her lighter troops and destroy the power station in the base, disabling all stationary defenses.
Objectives[]
You have been assigned a light terradyne squad. They are armed with 20 mm autocannons. They are effective against infantry and other lightly armored vehicles. Remember to protect your command APC at all times.
- The power generator must be destroyed. Once this is achieved, aid Major Thomas' strike team in destroying the base.
Events[]
Major Parker is dropped in first, and given a time limit to destroy the station before Major Thomas arrives. After clearing some light resistance and blowing up the station, the assault on the base begins in earnest. An Order medical personnel radios the Crayven forces, telling them that the hospital only has sick and wounded people, and surrenders.
After all the buildings except the hospital is destroyed, Major Thomas destroys the hospital anyway. Major Parker is horrified and vows revenge. Crayven Corporation does not punish Major Thomas, and in fact commends him for his actions.
Walkthrough[]
The player is granted one squad of terradynes. For this mission, they may only be configured into light terradynes. They may use the rough terrain around the power station to circumvent most of the Order forces. It is possible to mount a frontal assault on the Order base, which is only lightly guarded aside from the Guana turrets.
Should Major Thomas or Major Parker's APCs be destroyed, the level is lost.
