The AV/U-45 SRBA Condor is the bomber aerodyne of the Crayven forces. Short-range bombers are slow compared to other aerodynes, but are capable of delivering massive destruction from their bombing runs. They cannot target airborne units.

Background[]

The sight of the Crayven Corporation manufactured AV/U-45 SRBA (Short-Range Bomber Aerodyne) Condor, strikes fear into the enemy as it is loaded with pure destruction in the shape of bombs and guided missiles. The Condor is a short-range bomber aerodyne able to surgically bomb enemies of the Crayven Corporation. It can be loaded with up to 8,000 kilo's worth of bombs without sacrificing its flight qualities.

Typically the Condor is deployed in combat regions together with an escort; relying on the escort for both protection and reconnaissance. Since the Condor lacks the speed and maneuverability of the Delta, it is highly vulnerable to both enemy aerodynes and anti-air guns. Compared to other aerodynes the Condor moves like a snail but packs the firepower of a small sized army.

The Condor is armed with high explosive bombs, which are dropped over the enemy. Fast moving units such as light terradynes are hard to hit but buildings and other immobile structures are no match for a Condor.[1]

Overview[]

Condors are bomber aerodynes, packing a devastating air-to-ground punch. A single pass from a squad of Condors is enough to destroy any infantry and most light vehicles. Heavier units don't fare much better and sustain heavy damage if hit.

Condors compare most similarly to AV/U-309 HAA Vultures, as both are specialized air-to-ground attackers. Condors are superior against slow-moving or stationary targets as they need to be closer to their targets to deliver their payloads and the travel time of said payloads is slower. Condors also move much more slowly than Vultures, though they are still faster than most ground units.

Condors shine over Vultures most when targeting buildings and heavy units. A squad of vultures could take over a minute to destroy a squad of O1/WL8 Volans, but Condors could destroy such a squad within seconds as long as they don't miss. However, the slow-moving nature of Condors make them even more vulnerable to anti-air measures, and they can be dodged by attentive lighter units. Predicting where faster units are heading and targeting the ground in front of them can help Condors deal damage more quickly.

Like artillery, Condors have fire at will off by default. On the easiest difficulty, it is safe for them to switch to fire at will on. On higher difficulties, however, the devastating firepower of Condors can very quickly destroy friendly units from friendly fire. As they fly at higher altitudes than other aerodynes, Condors can even destroy unlucky friendly aerodynes and other Condors. Therefore, they're usually best used alone or with other units keeping a safe distance.

Condors can be armed with tactical nuclear bombs, which deal a moderate amount of damage over a huge splash radius. They could also be equipped with fragmentation bombs, which deal heavy damage over a moderate radius. Condors can be equipped with afterburners to offset their sluggish speed, utilize image intensifiers to spot targets in the absence of scouting units, or anti-missile systems, allowing them to temporarily safely bomb even areas that have anti-air structures or units.
